The Art Prize awards ceremony on April 22nd 2009 went very well with a large crowd in Venue 1 at CUC and Radio Merseyside reporting the result live on air and interviewing the judges and winners.

Very last chance to see the Liverpool Art Prize 2009

The 2009 Exhibition ENDS on Monday 4 May 2009. This is Bank Holiday Monday and the opening hours for the day are 11:00 to 15:45. The Novas CUC building closes at 16:00.

AL and AL win the Liverpool Art Prize 2009. Elizabeth Willow is the People’s Choice.

At a packed special Awards Ceremony in the Wake Theatre at Novas Contemporary Urban Centre tonight, AL and AL were presented with the prize of £2000 as winners of the Liverpool Art Prize 2009.
Also after counting over 1000 votes cast by visitors to the gallery it was announced that Elizabeth Willow was the winner of the £1000 ‘People’s Choice’ prize.
The ceremony was hosted by artinliverpool.com who set up and organise the prize which started in 2008 during Liverpool’s reign as European Capital of Culture.

 

Last chance to vote for the People's Choice prize in this year's Liverpool Art Prize.

The gallery will be open 11-18.00 on Tuesday 21 April 2009, no more voting after that.

The winner of this and the overall prize decided by the panel of judges will be announced at the special Awards Ceremony at Novas on Wednesday 22 April 18-20.00. The announcement starts at 18.30 in the Wake Theatre.

Awards Ceremony: Wednesday 22 April 2009 18.00 – 20.00
The announcement will take place 18.30 – 18.50 in the Wake Theatre.
Venue: The Wake Theatre at Novas Contemporary Urban Centre
The public are urged to visit the exhibition and vote for their favourite artist.
The gallery is open Wednesday to Sunday, closed on Monday but will be open on Tuesday 21st to accommodate last-minute voters.

The gallery will be open from 11.00 to 20.00 on the day.
There will be a pay bar in Venue 2, adjacent to the Wake Theatre

The catalogue for the 2009 awards was produced by Alexander MacGregor and is available for free to gallery visitors.

Shortlisted photographers McCoy Wynne discussed their photography and working practices with Ed Horwich recently.

Volunteers Needed for Novas Contemporary Urban Centre (CUC)

Following the success of last year's inaugural exhibition & awards ceremony, the Liverpool Art Prize 2009 exhibition will return to CUC on 12 March.

Volunteer staff are urgently required for invigilating and possibly other duties. Volunteers will assist with the private view on 12th March, and whilst the exhibition is open to the public from 13th March to 4th May 2009.  There may be opportunities to assist with other exhibitions thereafter.
